Erectile dysfunction

The psychological outcome that impacts most sexual dysfunctions are an unwillingness to make love, an inability to relax, and an inability to concentrate on sexual sensations. A major part of therapy is to unfold and explore the inhibitions that may be serving to block sexual response. The most common inhibitions are anxiety, shame, guilt, and reaction to a sexual trauma. Research cited a number of psychological issues involved in sexual dysfunction such as:
  • Performance anxiety, depression and anger.
  • Early sexual attitudes and experiences.
Lack of information about sexuality that may result in ignorance of technique, fear of pregnancy or of getting someone pregnant, or unrealistic expectations concerning sexuality and/or orgasm.

Unemployment, family stresses, relationship problems.

Communication problems between the partners exhibited in the sexual arena.
